Huadian Changsha Power Plant, Hunan China

Feasibility study for the retrofit of CO2 capture and utilisation on a 600 MW unit at the Huadian Changsha Power Plant, Hunan China. August 2017.

A report was delivered for the preliminary assessment of integrating carbon capture technology to a 600 MW coal-fired unit at the Huadian Changsha Power Plant, Hunan China. Available commercial carbon capture technologies were explored and chemical absorption post-combustion technology was identified to be the most technologically mature, with two plants currently operational in North America. Possible uses of the captured CO2, such as for urea and methanol production, were identified and the option for storing the CO2 in suitable sites around China was explored.
